so my housemate just asked, how exactly does one guard the cannon? i am also kind of curious... do we just have to sit there near it? how do we know if other people are just sitting near it or whether they are guarding it?

^haha. Yes, 'guarding the cannon' is just sitting beside it-- no fist fights According to cannon etiquette, the first group to have someone there in the morning has control of the cannon for that day, as long as someone belonging to that group is present for the whole day/evening/overnight. So, hopefully Alex will be the first one to get to the cannon tomorrow morning-- and if other people approach we can tell them we were there first. If someone arrives there before Alex, then we'll have to reschedule for another day...

Carly, Eric, Inara, Simon & anyone else thinking of staying overnight: My tent is a 2-person, which can probably fit 3, max-- a few people can sleep in my office, or alternatively, if you guys want to sleep, someone else should bring a tent! It is wicked cold out! Bring lots of warm clothes People painting the cannon: bring clothes you don't mind getting paint on.

I have extra sleeping bags if anyone needs any. I can bring them at 7 if anyone wants them.

I do indeed have 'after' pictures-- will share them soon My guess is that the wind that took the bike down-- it stayed up surprisingly well all night, but I think the wind picked up this morning.
