Morgan and I have been thinking about this for a while now...
Picture it: Many boys and girls happily spinning together in the same place, on their own gear, watching some sort of cycling related video with a plethora of "pot luck" refreshments/recovery snacks for munching...
Intriguing?
This Saturday afternooooon or anytime on Sunday... Anyone interested?
Morgan and/or I would be more than happy to pick people/bikes up to transport them if need be. Plus, I have an extra trainer and some rollers if you yourself don't own one. They can go to whomever asks first... (actually an extra bike too...)
We can do a "base miles" type longer, easy spin... or perhaps watch a movie and set up a drinking-game-type interval work out... Like, watch Back to the Future and everytime you see the DeLorean (time-machine car) you sprint for 15 seconds... Many options...
So... Who's interested? If there's sufficient interest... We can come up with some more specific details... Let us know!!!
Get your train on.

pfft base miles. 'tis lactate threshold / intervals time.
I have a dvd "Race Day" that will really lay down the hurt.
Im down.. .we need a location though. My roomies have a big midterm monday, so my place is out of the running.

Endurance rides are still important. And weekend hours are a nice opportunity to get that long ride in.
A tempo session might be a compromise.
What threshold workouts are you doing Aaron?

Alrighty... once we get a tentative number, we'll figure out where we can house everyone. I'm pretty sure my place or Morgan's will work fine. Mine may be better due to the lack of carpet in my basement... I can just whip out a mop for all the dirty sweat puddles.... Does anyone have a preference for day/time?

What threshold workouts are you doing Aaron? Im doing 10mins @ or slightly above LT, followed by 5 minutes below. Usually 90-120 min workouts. Trying to do this 3times a week. Then twice a week im doing that Race Day DVD which mimics a crit. 75-98% of MHR. The other two days i drink and hang out with you guys. My sluggish winter training regime is a thing of the past.. i can feel the life coming back to my legs. Its gonna be a good year.

Totally in. Saturday! If its not slushy or raining (and mess making for inside) I could probably get my bike and stuff 'there' without a car.

The word "party" attracted me to this post, but I am severely turned off by the lack of booze involved

I could have sworn Graham gave up drinking... We knew enough to question this graham imposter before and didn't belive him...
With weather projected for sunny at -2 on Saturday and 0 on Sunday I`m gonna try to make it outside. Last week I was outside 3x, just gotta dress for it... speaking of which I need to go pick up some hardcore booties. Those Sugoi sock version of the bootie don't cut it - best combo was those and the bootie (i borrowed my dad's) on the outside!.
If speed river is out of booties then i may be easily persuaded to take an afternoon off and try out some rollers... (opposed to 2hrs out of my day riding outside).
6 more weeks till no more school work!!!!!!!!!

Sooo... What's the verdict? Maybe say 3-3:30 as a compromise? Actually, no-one has suggested anything else... so 4-4:30 would be fine too... Pot luck stuff can include dinner type dealies? Pasta is cheap.... everybody bring something to share? I was going to get a bunch of bananas and fruit and Evan was pondering making some mini-pizzas...
We could do shots before dinner and get rediculously in the cabbage after the workout... it'd be easy... maybe Graham would come if that's the case...
Tentative List?:
MORGAN Chrisz Aaron Mark Christy Bayden Evan Lara ME! MichelleL (maybe?)
Mark... what's Lindsay up to tomorrow? My touring bike would love a visit from her...

If you have room when you pick up Aaron, Christy and my stuff is all at my place, we could kill many birds. That way if i'm not riding over I could bring an extra fan too - this is going to be cozy by the sounds of it.
are we saying 3pm then?

OK, I'm finally here. I'm bringing my lovely girlfriend and about 40 mini-pizzas. Some non-pepperoni too for the weirdos who don't eat meat. I call dibs on Derek's free trainer however, and I need to speak for Lara here to request both a bike and a trainer for herownself. Drinking: I "propose" that we follow appropriately modified beermile event rules ( www.beermile.com/faq.beer#rules) to be named "The Tour de Brew"; or something equally stupid and bike-nerdish. We shall replace "lap" with "12km" and "transition zone" with "20 seconds". Any other actual measurements shall be converted to time and distance proportionately. Rule #7 against shotgunning will be made null since I am quite arbitrarily fond of shotgunning and because I want to see Morgan fall backwards off his bike trying to do it the fourth time round. It will instead be replaced with Evan's Rule #7: "All riders must remain on their machines at all times. No rider may dismount for any reason at any time or face the penalty of one extra lap + beer". This is all following our very serious and regimented workout of course. I see a tradition "brewing". Seriously. See everyone there. Also, I'm riding my fixie: lets get the hurt on!

Since there are no more rollers/trainers up for grabs then the temptation is finally gone for me. I must be a slave to the books Take some pictures! "UGC training in the winter... this is how we get it done".

It looks like I'll be picking everyone up. This won't be a problem.
Chris, Where do you live?
Christy and Bayden... You live in the same places as last year... right?
I'll head out to pick everyone up at 3:30, so hopefully we can be setting up by 4.

Wrong Michelle... There are rollers... No pressure though... it's gonna be a tight fit... Ohhhh Derek, you tempt me again! I got a boat load of work done yesterday so i`m okay on that front but not so sure if my body is up for a 2hr ride today. I was out last night with a large group of people in my program (sorry i missed Morg's party, but i always favour gmbc events over all else so it was time to give back to physics) but ya last night was a reminder of one of the reasons why I love GMBC/UGC so much... we're just happy being us and dont' feel the need to keep bringing school/the test we just wrote/what you wanna do with your degree/how was coop/tell me all about it... time and time again. Maybe i just have a big sign on my head that attracts people to ask me about my life, career goals, and why i chose my program So yea, I didn't get much sleep at all last night and my body is fighting a bit of a cold and I'm winning - like to keep it that way. A double spin class thursday (the second hour was just base miles) knocked me on my ass that night so hmmm... typing out loud here i think i could tolerate a 45-1hr light spin and that would be good for me actually but anything more might be not a good idea to probably bad idea. Actually... I may come with a pasta contribution to the potluck around 6? Hmm... in zat case i will give your cell phone a ring Derek to confirm where it is that you live, same phone number as in the summer? I hope to make it out! Wooooo Bikes!

Alrighty then... I'll be heading out around 3:30 to pick up:
Chris Bayden & Christy Mark R and Morgan.
Aaron looks like a definite maybe.
I think I'll pick everyone up and then we'll go harass Aaaaaaron and pull his butt out of bed...
My Address, Michelle, is 17 Brentwood Dr. It's the first street on the north side of Speedvale once you cross Edinburgh. (if you're coming from the Hanlon) and yes... same phone number.
See y'all soon.
