A compilation of virtually every question ive recieved over the past few years via email. Chances are your answer is here.
Q: Do you charge any membership fees?
A: No. School, the government and life in general will take enough money from you. We feel for you, so no fees.
Q: I am a beginner, are the rides too advanced for me?
A: We try to accomodate all skill levels from beginner to advanced. When we post rides we make it clear what level the pace will be at. Beginner rides will accomodate the slowest rider and usually double as instructional sessions to help you learn the tricks of the trade. If you don't see a beginner ride posted, fear not. Go ahead and request one, we are always ready to help out new riders.
Q: Do I need a bike with suspension to ride ?
A: No. Some of the fastest riders in Ontario opt for bikes without suspension. However, a bike with suspension does make the learning curve a bit easier, but is certainly not a necessity.
Q: Does the club cover any other riding, like road ?
A: Totally yes. Frequent road rides are scheduled in the fall and over the course of the year, and other types of riding are welcome based on member interest (trials, downhill, cyclocross, etc). We even have a number of people interested in triathlon.
Q: Do you have University of Guelph Jerseys?
A: Yes we do. We do a production of custom jerseys during the fall semester every year. If you missed the order, the minimum placement is 6 jerseys. So either buy 6 jerseys and always ride with a clean one, or find 6 members interested in purchasing a jersey and we can place another order.
Q: Are there Good Trails in Guelph?
A: Yep, The Guelph Lake trail system is about 10km north of campus on Victoria rd. and Eden Mills is just off of Watson Rd, south of Stone Rd. Ask for a tour guide on the forum , if its your first time.
Q: I've never raced before, are the UCups going to be too difficult?
A: No. The B category is geared towards novice racers and use a shorter distance course with lesser technical sections. I can guarantee that you will have a good time!
Q: Who is the UGC's fastest UCup rider?
A: Aaron
