Hiya folks! Anyone planning on attending this race? Anyone planning on pre-riding this race?
BIG QUESTION:
Does anyone have a small mountain bike i can borrow for the week and for the race? I would really really appreciate it. It's my first elite race and I don't have a bike.
Thanks gang!

I'm heading up Saturday from Guelph and will be staying overnight. I can give people rides up if they have somewhere to stay.

Anton's S1/2 crit was nuts, averaged 47.x km/hr, and the spidertech guys put on 'how to spank a peloton' clinic, finshing 1-4 and 6th. After the first few laps the race settled down to chasing a 4 man break, three of them were spidertech guys, and eventually more spidertech guys attacking the peloton and finishing ahead, it was super impressive. Every guy in the peloton even in the heart of the draft had the pain face going on. My race was fun also, went off on several solo break attempts, got a partner for one break but we got swallowed up again, won a prime for prizes, and then was on the moon when the bell lap sounded and just cruised in through the finish when I thought we had more laps to go.

47km/hr what??? That's absolutely nuts. At Hardwood, Dana and Kent suffered from a pile-up type crash early on in the race that has left Dana's hand out of commission for a few weeks but he trooped it out for a couple laps before it became too much. Kent went on to hit his deralieur later in the race that ended his day with a mechanical. In my race I booked it out of the start and got myself up with the top Senior and Master women into the first single track. It proved to be a good move as I passed some people and caught up to the leaders. Somewhere down the line I started to fall back and was caught in a gap for a while with no one to chase or be chased by. On the last lap I was ballin down the coffee run at 30km/hr with no one infront or behind to worry about. Just after that at the 3km to go mark I caught what was actually the sport leader leading a train of mixed racers up a big climb. I was able to work my way through most of the train but the leader (Queens rider actually with a Caledon jersy on) got away just enough I didn't see her again. Fairly certain that i was sitting in 3rd or 4th and quite happy I was still in this, it actually turned out to be second place! I had lots of cheers on course and from other riders "Go Guelph!!!" not sure most of them were but it was a big confidence boost for sure. Erica's bike didn't arrive in time for her to register and make her Elite debut but it's now back in her hands as of yesterday . I`m not sure how the Expert Racers went, well?

rear quick release came loose causing my wheel to fall off 3k into the second lap. I was in second spot at that time on the leading guys wheel. My race was done DNF:( At least there Mountainview next weekend!

Yeah, hand is pretty swollen. Haven't heard back on the xrays but the dr. doesn't think it's broken. It'll be a while before I can squeeze my bars tight enough for aggressive riding though.
