Hey Gang,
Last winter I made a good routine of xc skiing for 6-8 hours a week as a more adventurous and exciting alternative to sitting on the trainer, hoping for the time to pass quickly so i could end the monotony. By the time I got out on the road for my first ride in February I swore I was feeling stronger, with better cardio that when I had put the bike up on the trainer in November. The only problem was that I very seldom had anyone to enjoy it with and without having a vehicle, my access to trails was limited to reasonable at best in-town trails.
Rumour has it we have a couple skiers even some varsity skiers in the club. I would like to propose that we make an attempt at starting a couple weekly excursions, that would allow us to enjoy some good x-training with our riding friends, get skiers like my self out to some new trail via carpooling, and maybe offer some pointers for those who may be new or want to get started. I for one could use some advice as to how to make my brand new skate skis work. All in all it's just a great way to get out and enjoy winter and stay fit.
Let's toss the idea around this thread for a bit and see what we can come up with.
Cheers, Taylor

The golf course beside campus (cutten club) is great because you can walk to it, albeit, the skiing is not always fantastic. I ski pretty much every day in the winter and am often driving to trails so we might be able to work something out! I can also try to give advice, skate skiing is awesome!

I know some guys who did some snowshoeing at the golf course, they said it was ideal for their purpose.

Tanks Laura, I made good use of the cutten club last couple of years. Although I was told that I would find skate skiing much easier on a groomed trail. Anyways I look forward to having someone to give me few pointers and enjoy the snow with. Let's keep in touch.
Anyone else interested in joining?

Agreed! Skiing is definitely the best way to spend the winter! I ski basically everyday as well (usually with Laura, so I've already joined by default haha). Learning to skate on the golf course would be pretty rough but I'm sure once the snow falls we will be making regular trips out to some groomed trails off Maltby Rd that you could probably get in on

I feel like this thread could use some love since there is actually snow. I just started xc skiing over the winter break because my ankle is too messed up to go down hill skiing. (Go home to the Rockies, and all I can do is stare at the mountains...) Seeing as I apparently live beside Cutten Club, I guess that's where I will be doing a lot of my cardio this winter.
