Ever wonder about my excellence on a bike? I owe it to a hearty diet of wolves, bears, and the odd moose, living under a tarp in the rocks and trees of the north, and riding my bike across the country side while throwing spears at my prey. No, but seriously it's from learning to mountain bike at Buckwallow and the other, much harder trails in Muskoka. Buckwallow is a great venue, not hilly, and much more varying terrain than the rest of the series. It is known as the most technical Ontario Cup race (thank the bike gods you don't have to race Elliot Lake), and the Ontario Cup is Sunday the 10th of July. Is anybody interested in racing this race? I may have a favour to ask; I am in Algonquin Park the whole week leading up to the race and the week after, and will get myself and my bike to the race, but may need help to get my bike back to Guelph and I'll go back to the park. If you think you have room for an extra bike (no rider), please let me know.

I'm thinking about it, but it's looking like July will be tight on time.
The course is posted, have you riden it yet?

So where are these legendary muskoka trails? I have my brand new bike and can't find anywhere to ride except buckwallow. Anything closer to Huntsville?

Also ... Ever wonder about my excellence on a bike? I owe it to a hearty diet of wolves, bears, and the odd moose, living under a tarp in the rocks and trees of the north, and riding my bike across the country side while throwing spears at my prey. north? really? ... please in related news ... perhaps an O-Cup in Sudbury next year? .. thats right .. welcome to the real north

Sudbury O-cup could perhaps give some people a different perspective on what the words 'north' and 'technical' mean... and maybe even on the word 'compensation' when offered from the local gals....

Racers Unite! so I have been hearing some chatter about who wants to go .. when to go .. who with ... so lets get ourselves sorted. Im pretty sure it's 3ish hours there so I think going up Saturday and staying overnight is the best option for a lot of us (me) .. so Im thinking about campsites and needing to book. Who is in? so far I have heard interest from (me), Nico, Flav, Smyth, Jvan, Dana? (6 bikes/people total)? ... Who can drive? Nico (3bikes 2peeps total?), Flav (1bike 2peeps .. total or plus you?), Dana (3bikes, 4peeps?) ... Who wants to camp? Who has tents or other gear to spare? Anyone or anything else?? so post up if you have any answers, comments or questions ... Im thinking by Thursday so I can tally and see how this will work out ... thanks!

Update - Gravenhurst KOA is booked up but Hillbilly Estates (classy I know) has some tent sites and one Cabin for 5 available as of tonight .. I stayed there last year and its not to far away and does the trick ... here is the link www.hillbilly.on.ca/campground/rates.htm looking like about 15 bucks each if we get 5 for the cabin and 12 ish if we fit 4 onto one site or 15 if we split to 2 sites

There's also Santa's village which is reasonably priced, except: "Noisy parties, profane language and excessive drinking will not be tolerated."

Considering doing this race...my death is imminent!
Not sure how helpful I will be for rides as I will be driving to Orillia on Thursday night, but I can probably get someone back to Guelph if necessary.
See y'all there!

^ Im sure the cabin wont be a problem .. but rides might be .. I think the only other spot we have available right now is with Alex ... and I know Smyth was thinking about going but I haven't heard from her yet .. so I think it is a first come first serve kind of a deal

update -
cabin is a 2 night minimum stay so I booked a tent site for 5 instead .. so if we have 5 it will be $12 each and because Alex is awesome it looks like we have tents for that many people ... so it will be first come first serve for who gets in those spots or if we have to book another site Right now I have confirmed Mariah + Nico (driving), and Alex (driving) with room for 1 more (camp and ride)

Sad to say that I'll probably have to pass on this one. If I change my mind, I'll figure out extra accommodations.
