I hope you're revved up and ready to race, because a fresh University Cup season is about to start. This season starts this Saturday at the awesome Mansfield Outdoor Centre.
What you need to know:
Single Day Race cost - $29
Full Weekend Race cost - $58
Full Series cost - $145 (by paying for the entire series up front, you get a wicked U-Cup t-shirt at the final event)
One-time Insurance for entire series - $25
Camping - $11
That's right, you have the option to camp out at Mansfield Saturday night! Join us for a bonfire, meet some cyclists from Guelph and other schools, share a drink with your new friends, and general good times under the stars. The University of Toronto Cycling Team generously provides a delicious dinner including pasta, vegetarian tomato sauce, bread rolls, salad, dessert, and water. They ask for a small $2 contribution from each person to help cover the cost of feeding the entire Toronto, Guelph, and Queen's Universities' teams.
What you need to bring to race:
A working mountain bike
Helmet
Racing clothing
Water bottles
Snacks/Food
Entry Fee/Insurance money
Gas money for your driver
What you need to bring if you're camping:
Warm evening clothing (Mansfield can get chilly at night)
Sleeping bag and tent
Beverages (to help keep warm at night )
Food or snacks for pre- or post-race (You burn a lot of calories this weekend, it's important to stay fuelled. Mixed nuts, fruit, trail mix, sandwiches, bring something just in case)
Please post up if you're interested in partaking in this phenomenal weekend racing adventure. If you've never done a U-Cup event with us before, you're in for an awesome time. Make sure to mention how many people and how many bikes are coming along so we can arrange rides and make everyone gets there and back. For example, if you are coming by yourself to race, your post should look something like this:
"I'm racing this weekend Saturday and Sunday, 1 person and 1 bike"
If you have a car and will be able to drive yourself and others, please let us know. Be sure to let us know how many people you can drive (include yourself in that number) and how many bikes you can fit in/on your car. Bike racks are also great, bring one if you have one. Drivers are always needed, and everyone contributes some gas money to their driver to cover fuel costs. The more drivers we have, the more people we have at the race, and the more fun we all have.
If you have a tent, include that in your post too. We need tents, and we need to know how many people you can fit in those tents.
Let us know if you have any camping equipment you can contribute, like grills or cooking stuff, because these help make life easier when we're making breakfast in the morning. You need a good meal in the morning to have a good race in the day.
Can't wait to see you Saturday morning at 7:00am at the Tim Horton's on Stone Rd, across the road from the Stone Rd Mall, just west of the Stone and Edinburgh intersection.
