Welcome to another stellar year of the University Cup of Mountain Biking!!!
This year we open up the series at the home of the Canadian National Mountain Biking Championships - Hardwood Ski and Bike! The date is Sunday September 15th.
Here's how this works. If you are interested in racing this event, reply to this post. Let us know that you are attending so that we can anticipate numbers and organize the team. For example, your reply should look like this:
"I am stoked to come out for this race. I will be there and am bringing my bike. 1p 1b"
1p because you are 1 person, and 1 b because you are bringing 1 bike. We need to know how many people and bikes are expected to make sure we have enough cars with enough seats for people and space for bikes.
If you have a car and will be able to drive yourself and others, please let us know. Be sure to let us know how many people you can drive (include yourself in that number) and how many bikes you can fit in/on your car. Bike racks are also great, bring one if you have one. Drivers are always needed, and everyone contributes some gas money to their driver to cover fuel costs. The more drivers we have, the more people we have at the race, and the more fun we all have.
"I can drive to this race. I can fit 4p and 4b in my vehicle."
The entire series costs $150, which gets you 6 races and a t-shirt. If you have UCI/OCA insurance, you're good. If not, you need to pay a one-time fee of $25 for the race series insurance, which covers you for all 6 races. Individual races cost $30. Make sure you bring cash, as debit/credit are not options. To race this weekend, you need $150 to pay for the entire series OR $30 to pay for just this race, and $25 for insurance if you don't have a race license, and a few dollars for gas money.
If you have never raced before or have only limited racing experience, don't worry. The B division does a shorter and easier trail designed to help new riders learn how to race in a comfortable and fun setting. If you are yearning to shred some gnar and have lots of racing experience, the A division with its sweet courses and tough competition is for you.
We will meet at 7am on Sunday September 15th at the Tim Horton's right across from Stone Road Mall, on Stone Road, between Gordon and Kortright. Make sure you bring everything you need to race.
