Here's a brand new and local race series for you to try out. The highly successful Kelso Weekly Mountain Bike Series is introducing the Kelso Weekly Cyclocross Series. We will be racing on and around the skill hills under the night lights right through October. This will be excellent practice for U-Cups and a fun way to extend your cycling season into the Fall. Cross and mountain bikes are permitted. There are 4 categories to choose from based on race experience and race length. Here are the details: Cost: Single Race - $22.25 Series - $67.80 (about $8.48 per race) Beginner and Novice categories start at 6:45pm every Tuesday and race for just over 30 minutes. These categories require little or no racing experience. Designed with beginners and amateurs in mind. Sport and expert categories start at 7:45 every Tuesday and race for just over 45 minutes. These categories require some racing experience. Designed to be challenging and competitive. You must register online before noon on the day of the race if you are doing a single race. James and I will be attending every race. I can fit 2 people and their bikes into my car in addition to us. Post up if you're interested in joining us. First come, first serve, post up sooner than later if you'd like a ride with me. Additional bonus to coming with me - I have a vehicle pass, so no park entrance fee for you. Here's the website for more details.

The first week's race was incredible. It was a beautiful night, the ski lights kept everything illuminated, and in true cross fashion, there were some scantily clad and painted hooligans running around, making noise, chirping riders, and cheering. This series will be awesome training for U-Cups. Everyone should try to make it out at least once. We can also go down at another time for practice and fun not racing. That means no cost to you, and the entire park is open to ride as little or as much as desired.
