I recently realized that my 26 inch TRECK 820 hard tail just isn't cutting it for me any more. I'm in the market for a 29er dual suspension, maybe a suspension of 5? (if that's even how you say it? haha) anyways, ideas, suggestions? I'm not looking necessary looking for a bike that will perform good in races, just for more casual riding. Preferably something not too heavy. Thanks!

If you want to go up to 29er I would say get a hard tail 29er instead. Full suspension will be a bit more expensive and heavier, and for trails like Guelph lake and twin ponds I think 29er full suspension is a bit overkill. Checkout the Trek Marlin, its in the 500-600 range and my buddy has been really happy with his.

If you want a XC 29er fully I would buy it used. For what you intend to use it for, im sure theres a bike someone is trying to get rid of thats in a reasonable price range for you. Check Pinkbike here www.pinkbike.com/buysell/list/?region=3&category=2&q=*&page=2 lots of ppl trying to ditch there bikes end of season.

I might be convinced to sell my hardtail 29er, I don't really need 2 xc bikes anymore. It's a 2010 Scott Scale Elite.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'm definitely looking into dual suspension, but thanks for the suggestion Dana and thummel26 I already checked that site alex and found nothing, but I'll keep looking. Who knows when someone might want to get rid of a great bike that fits me

If you're 5'8 or under, consider 27.5 instead of 29. If its riding for fun and not specifically racing, go full suspension. Itll make the learning curve that much easier.
That being said, if your budget is under $1500, you're better off going with a hardtail.

I'm over 5'8 and my budget would be under 1500$, but I'm hoping to get it at the bike show, where hopefully they will have a good full suspension bike on sale for under 1500$ (or is that too much to hope for? haha) I'd rather it be 29, I love the power.

That being said, if your budget is under $1500, you're better off going with a hardtail. ^that's the plug for giant, but it's good advice, and a 29er fully for less than $1500 would weigh twice as much as you do so hardtail is a great call. If money comes this is what I'd do for a fully 29er www.trekbikes.com/ca/en/bikes/mountain/cross_country/superfly_fs/superfly_fs_8/#features like thru axels front and back and the shimano shadow plus drivetrain is awesome, that said www.trekbikes.com/ca/en/bikes/mountain/cross_country/superfly/superfly_5/#has all of the features of the world cup racing bikes - minus carbon and superlight parts. functionally though it's got thru axels, internal cables, and it's aluminium so it will last forever. Used is probably the best way to get a great bike though! Some serious gems out there at this time of the year
