Hey everyone, once again great job to everyone who raced at Hardwood. It was a great time and we are looking forward to the next race. This week we're off to Mansfield. This UCup is a bit special because it goes on for two days. Here's a bit of a brief overview of what's going to be going on:
-Saturday there are two races, the crit and time trial. The crit is super fun. The way it works is each category sort of has a a mini-tournament. For example, all the Men's A riders are split into groups of 4 riders. Each group races 2 laps of a super short course (like 400m) and the top 2 riders move on to the next round. The time trial is pretty much what it sounds like, there is a set course (featuring mostly single track) and riders are sent out at timed intervals. In fact your results in the crit determine the start order in the time trial. These events are both fun and this is the only time you will get to do them over the course of the Ucups so it's worth coming out for.
-After this UofT will provide a delicious spaghetti dinner (FREE) and we will camp at Mansfield for the night, so bring lots of dry and warm clothes.
-We wake up in the morning, Matt has talked about making a visit and cooking us dinner, but this is still unconfirmed so plan to bring food for breakfast unless you hear differently - we'll keep you posted.
-Pre-ride the xc course and then race!
SO, since this is a more complex operation, we will need to be super organized. Please post up how many people you are bringing, how many bikes, if you can drive how many people and bikes you can fit (don't forget to count yourself) and if you're bringing a tent, how many people can you squish in there. Please remember to bring enough food to last Saturday and Sunday (not counting dinner Saturday night). Make sure you come out to this one everyone, it's gona be pretty wicked.
So that's a lot of information, let's recap what you need to bring:
- 2 sets of cycling clothing
- Any cycling gear you need (tubes, pumps, helmet, shoes, tools etc.)
- Food:
- Saturday you will need some sort of lunch, light enough, in between the crit and TT)
- Snacks, always nice to have something to munch on
- Potentially Sunday morning breakfast, to be confirmed
- Some sort of lunch/snack sunday if you want
- Money for the race, if you havent paid for the series already(30$/day of racing)
- Sleeping bag, pillow, tent(if you are bringing one)
- WARM clothes, trust me it gets DARN cold over night there!
- Rain clothes, becausse you just never know when you're out in the wild
- A winning attitude, and a little Guelph pride
- oh and fun bring that fu with you it's gonna be a sweet weekend!!!!!
