*sigh* ...How many TdF winners have subsequently been convicted of doping?

I have to agree with McQuaid, any news or decisions regarding doping aren't victories of any sort for the cycling world. Can the sport ever be clean?

I despise Alberto, and I believe he is a cheater, so in this case I believe that it is a victory. What is worse, a doper getting caught or a doper sliding under the rug?
I choose to believe that Lance has never doped. It is different for people when you have experienced needing to take drugs to survive, it makes you never want to take a drug again.

Apparently Saxo Bank may not be a pro tour team next year due to Contador getting banned. Because Contador is the person responsible for the majority of their team points, with his results being nullified Saxo does not meet the requirements.
And wow Rach, UCI is really cracking down hard this month.

"Armstrong sued USADA in Austin, Texas, where he lives, in an attempt to block the case and was supported by the UCI. A judge threw out the case on Monday, siding with USADA despite questioning the agency’s pursuit of Armstrong in his retirement." What can you do when everyone seems to want to discredit you? His case thrown out in Texas, where he's from, in the US, who love him, while he's backed by the UCI, the world's governing body on cycling. What Lance has done for cycling in North America can never be overlooked. Absolutely. Myself, like thousands of others, discovered and subsequently loved cycling after watching Lance. Armstrong is not solely responsible for making cycling what it is now in the US and Canada (credit also to Americans Greg Lemond, George Hincapie, and Levi Leipheimer, and Canadians Steve Bauer, Clara Hughes, and Ryder Hesjedal, among others), but without him, cycling would be nowhere near its present level of popularity. I understand where's he's coming from and why this decision has been made, but as a longtime fan of Armstrong, I feel that it's a shame he's no longer fighting to protect his name. Looking back on the sheer number of accusations and investigations despite passing so many tests, it does seem like a witch hunt to discredit him. ”Because it is my name! Because I cannot have another in my life! Because I lie and sign myself to lies! Because I am not worth the dust on the feet of them that hang! How may I live without my name? I have given you my soul; leave me my name!” - John Proctor

Anyone watch Lances interview last week?
He said some pretty funny things for a "contrite" interview lol
For example. "..My cocktail, so to speak, was EPO, but not a lot, transfusions and testosterone — which, in a weird way, I almost justified, because of my history, obviously, with having testicular cancer and losing, I thought, ‘surely, I’m running low.’”
or
“Listen, I called you crazy. I called you a bitch, I called you all these things, but I never called you fat.”

Yeah, that first remark was pretty well played haha
However, it was heartbreaking when he was talking about his son.. One can't simply NOT feel bad about the situation Lance and everyone in his life have been thrown into, even if it WAS his own doing. Albeit, I still feel he's an inspiration for multiple reasons.

I feel bad for his kids, but that is about it. The way in which he maliciously attacked anyone and everyone that dared to speak the truth is truly disgusting. His use of PED is forgivable, but the way in which he destroyed people financially & emotionally is the real crime. He is getting a taste of his own medicine now after giving it to others for the past 13 years.
Also, I would take a lot of what he said with a grain of salt. He is being sued for quite a lot of money, and faces a potential charges of fraud against the US government. He is being very careful in what and how he says things. It could also explain why he said that he stopped doping in 2005 (despite USADA saying otherwise), as he could potentially have his sporting ban reduced to 8 years for providing testimony against others.
