Hey UGC, Just putting out some feelers to see who might be interested in spending a weekend at a road racing event in the US. There are a few to choose from. They are as follows: March 16-17 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania March 30-31 - Worcester, Massachusetts April 6-7 - Shippensburg, Pennsylvania April 13-14, West Point, New York April 20-21, Providence, Rhode Island Link to race website: collegiatecycling.org/eccc/wiki/index.php?n=Calendar.Current Queen's is planning on attending at least one of these events. It will be posted once we learn which event their riders are attending. Post up if you're interested, and let us know which weekends work best for you. We will probably only go for one of these events, given the time of year and difficulty of organizing such a trip. Let's rep UGC on the international stage!

I vote for March 30-31 weekend, its the easter weekend so everyone gets the friday off so that gives us that day to drive down there at least.
Queens will also be there that weekend

Might be difficult for me to get that weekend off, but I can certainly try. Also, any details/estimates on cost?

Im open to the April 20-21 weekend also.
Here is a breakdown of cost:
Annual License to do this series is $30 annual or 10$ per day. So if we only do one weekend it makes sense to just buy 2 one day licenses. On top of that here is a breakdown of race entry fees: •Road ◦Mass start (road or circuit race, criterium): $15 ◦Individual start (individual time trial or hill climb): $10 ◦Team event (team time trial): $20 per squad
For a whole weekend of racing these are all very reasonable entry fees and are lower than then what we pay for here.
As for what events we actually take place in, as Rookie D stated that depends on who can make what weekend. We had interest in the other thread to do these races but hopefully everyone will start to think about actually doing the race and responding in the next few weeks if they can make a time commitment.
This relates to the TTT as it depends on who shows up. Ive never done a TTT myself but from what I know it is good to have everyone comfortable time trialing together at once. As for the other events we will try to particpate in the road race and criterium as well.

I'd be interested in this. Either March or late April. Not sure I'll be in very good racing shape by then though...

I'm thinking that Easter weekend might be the most viable, March 30-31. How does everyone feel about that? It's about 6 weeks away at this point. It's a good time to double check that your passport hasn't expired as well.

Collegiate licenses are only available to riders attending school in the US. You will have to purchase an international license from your provincial branch of Cycling Canada, which is the OCA/UCI race license if your primary residence is in Ontario. This will insure only for liability at out of country sanctioned events, and you will not have to pay for a USAC Collegiate license (i.e the $30/$10). As for medical insurance at any international race with your OCA issued UCI license, it is available for purchase at an additional cost by contacting the OCA (as per last bullet under Licensed Member heading www.ontariocycling.org/oca-membership/membership-benefits/ ) If you contact the OCA further about medical insurance, ask them lots of questions. I will forward the e-mail to your OUMRC listed contact uogcycling@gmail.com.
