Heard some wicked shit last night. The VP of GORBA got $4000 in grants for Twin Ponds. He's putting it toward mapping and signage.

Well this really isn't wicked at all but this seems like the only reasonable place to post it. The UCI has officially banned any members from competing in unsanctioned events in what is clearly a direct attack on the newly founded Enduro World Series. As you may already be aware, the EWS was created this year because the UCI refused to recognize enduro as a competitive discipline, and most racers did not want anything to do with this organization anyway. The new ruling includes anyone with a UCI membership, including independent racers who do not have a full management, mechanics, and training team supporting them. Of course it also means we won't get to see the SC Syndiacte, the Athertons, Brendan Fairclough, or the CG Brigade and the countless other teams we love at the EWS either. Basically just another big slap in the face to mountain bikers across the globe. First taking the axe to 4-cross, not allowing national champs to wear their jerseys, screwing with Trade Team point contributions (http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/8655574), and now stomping out enduro before it even begins. The only hope here is for professional racers to drop their memberships. No pros=no UCI. UCI Clarifies Rule on Unsanctioned Races

^ya not wicked, I like to do citizen events every so often and this I guess would restrict me from doing that?
Not sure why they are doing this other than to keep amateurs all at the same playing field without riders that are more experienced with UCI licenses coming out and crushing it. Thats still a bad idea though, it is always fun to race against the much faster guys and this may take away from # of entries to smaller events.

Totally agree that it is just a big money grab, as if they didn't have enough. Honestly, I hope see see mountain biking remove itself from the UCI. Hopefully the EWS works out and can become the umbrella organization for all mountain biking events. Not sure I fully understand the benefits of electric shifting. Is it more of a proof-of-concept or are there true advantages to be had? (did not watch the video lol, too much riding to watch ) *edit*: just watched it, love how he describes the bike as having "erotic" geometry On a more cheerful note, my goal for the summer is to learn how to do those awesome endo-switchback-turns like a boss. Some wicked fast cyclocross racing and a wicked fast racer. A good reminder that even the fastest guys have bad races.
