Hey Scott, welcome to the club! Yay Albion! (I consider it my home course). Do you live around there? Hopefully we will see you out on some mtb rides soon! Are you interested in racing any of the U-Cups?

Sure do! Home base for the summer is just north of Caledon East, about a 13km ride from Albion.
Haven't thought about any U-Cup racing, is there still any races left for the season?

Hey guys I'm Jacob. I ride XC and my "home" trails are the Hydrocut even though I live closer to G-Lake.
I've already met Nico, Mariah, Chris and another Scott on a few rides, and look forward to meeting everyone.
I can't wait to learn the trails around here after a year off the bike. I've already done more riding in the last two weeks than I have in a year and a half!

Hey Guys, I'm Matt.
I'm going into my 5th year here at Guelph. I'm looking to get back into riding after taking about a year off for health reasons.
I've got a Specialized Crosstrail elite that I use mainly for road biking. I've done rides along the old highways between Guelph-Waterloo as well as Guelph-Milton district, and the highways around my hometown up North. I'm looking forward to getting back in shape and learning some new routes and trails around Guelph.
I haven't competed before, but I'm definitely looking forward to meeting some other riders, getting my stamina back up, and seeing what its all about!

I can't make it out for the Potluck today as I'm state side this weekend to watch the Patriots and Bills. I'll make sure to bring my A-game for the next potluck, I love to cook! I'll keep my eyes on the forum over the weekend and find a ride that looks good for me to start out on. Looking forward to meeting you all soon!

Hi everyone, my name is Chris Jackson. I'm a Guelph local, born and raised. I ride an Orbea Alma on the trails, but I also have a Gary Fisher 'HKEK' that I might sell this season. I'm also getting my retro rebuild up and running this season, a late 1970s Norco Monterey. ...It's real hip... I've worked a few years at a few shops in Guelph, Toronto, Kitchener, and Burlington as a mechanic. This winter I started boxing to keep fit, and I can't wait to combine that with lots of trail riding to get me in better condition. I have only raced the 24hr. relay at Albion, but I'm hoping to get into more races as I progress with my fitness and skill levels.

Hi, I'm Alia. I'm from Delhi, in Norfolk County. I enjoy mountain biking recreationally because that's all I've ever done. So therefore, no racing experience. I bike to school every day too, even in crazy conditions. I don't like the bus. But I thought I'd get myself out there and see what opportunities there are, and maybe I can learn a thing or two.

Hey Alia, there's great trails around Guelph and you will definitely learn more about mtn biking with us especially through racing @ the U-Cups!
Do you rock ski goggles when you commute?

That's great to know. And no, I don't use ski goggles.

Ive seen at least two people rocking the ski goggles down Gordon.
Hi, everyone. My name is Kyle and Ive been sober for 8 months... nope, wrong group. I have a road bicycle, its a Giant, sorta like me. Right now I mainly use the bike for transportation when the bus driver doesn't accept my UofG student card but I used to do 50km+ rides up north before I moved here for school. I don't think I'd do any placing in a race but the idea of group riding sounds fun.

Hi guys I'm Tom, a 2nd year engineering PhD student at Guelph, did my undergrad and masters here as well. Used to ride quite a bit and just getting back into things after being off 2 years from an injury, so I generally ride 3-4 times a week (puslinch or guelph lake). I have some limited racing experience, and am definantly looking forward to U-Cup this year. However, what would my eligibility for points be in this case as I am both student and alumni.
Also, two of my friends (alumni also), would like to compete this year as well. As we are all older, is there an age limit for alumni eligibility? Thanks guys.
Tom

Hey Tom, great to have you here. I can't say for sure, but I believe as long as you're an enrolled student, you should be able to compete for points. Again, I can't say for sure, but I've never heard of an age limit for alumni. Regardless of classification as student or alumni, we'd be glad to have you and your friends out to ride with us around town and at races. See you on the trails soon!

Tom, if you are still in your PhD program than your points will count if you race! There is no age limit to race. Your friends are more than welcome to come and participate also. God only knows how old Dana is and he still puts the odd race in with us every so often
