Since it seems the recruitment phase is starting again, i figured we'd get another one of these threads going...
So tell me about yourself...
ie.
I race road and MTB I've been involved with creating and developing the club for the past 5 years. I'm looking forward to helping Guelph win #1 overall this year. I hail from Oakville, ON, and work at Cyclepath during the summer.

Hey kids... I'm Holly! This is my first season riding/racing MTB. I've done a couple OCUPS, but mostly getting pumped for the fall UCUPS. Getting into riding was easy thanks to the people I met this summer from the gmbc. Very excited to meet the rest of you! Also, just bought a sweet road bike that's been getting a bit too much of my love. This will be remedied after a ride at the hydrocut tonight... I hail from Stouffville, ON, and work in Plant Agriculture at the University this summer.

oh! another thing, Aaron, Bayden and myself are your current acting co-prez's, so any questions you have about riding in guelph, getting together with fellow ugc'ers, anything about the club, feel free to ask one of us!
Bayden might bite and Aaron's a little handsy, and i will probably try to steal your shoelaces...but really we're very nice people and more than happy to answer any of your questions or hook you up with other people who'd love to take you riding!

Boing I'm Bayden.
I love riding road, mtb and race them both. Injury has sidelined that quite a bit this year so far, don't get injuries. This is my fourth year at cycling and still can't get enough, ever. I got into mtb racing (at the same time as road racing) through this club and the first race weekend was such a good time there was no turning back. I'm from Ottawa, and my buiz at school is physics. For those with a roady slant I hope to see you and your skinny tires in the fall on some weekly road rides!

Hey everyone, I'm Lindsay. I just started mountain biking this summer and absolutely enjoy it. I originally was a trail runner but came to the dark side and am loving mountain biking even more. I have yet to do any O-Cups, but will be going out to some of the Tuesday night Albion races or Wednesday night Hardwood races before I head back to school. I come from Shelburne, so I get quite a bit of riding in at Albion and Hardwood.
See everyone in the fall!!

Derek Manuge It's my first year going to Guelph University this coming Fall, so I'm 18 years old. I ride a Black Market Riot for park/street (MTB), and some ghetto roadie I fixed up last week. I've been 'hardcore' into biking since I was about 13, and it stuck ever since. I install and maintain my bikes myself, I find shops sometimes can be sketchy if you don't establish a good relationship -and being 30 minutes away from the closest shop, it was worthwhile to teach myself to fix bikes. I've done some competing in the past, but not as of late. My last competition I placed 4th, but that was last summer. I am also a moderator on Pinkbike.com. That should be enough info for now.

My name is Kevin, and I am an alcoholic.
Wrong forum? Sorry....
My apologies at the lame attempt at a joke, but I figured I might as well try to break whatever ice there may be here.
I've been biking since I was younger, but only seriously in the past two summers. This is my first year at Guelph, where, if all goes according to plan, I will be studying for the next six-odd years.
I own just one bike, and due to monetary restrictions, the bike itself is of mediocre calibre, at best. It's basically a high-end Canadian Tire mountain bike, but a Canadian Tire bike nonetheless. My father owns an excellent road bike that he was never used since it's purchase in 2000, but all attempts to acquire it thus far have been unsuccessful.
I have raced competitively once in my lifetime, and, though I'll be damned if I could tell you what the race was, I came in second (it was only an under-20 event, so I suppose that isn't all that impressive).
Thanks for your time, Kevin

Hi! I'm Ally and starting a Master's this fall and I ride both road/mountain. I first started mtnbiking in 06 and by the end of 07 I was pretty comfortable with the sport. This summer was epic due to a lot of traveling so I haven't even had ONE ride yet... crap. I started road cycling last year and went quite a few times. Haven't had a ride on the road yet either... but had some awesome rides in Germany on rental bikes I'm actually quite still newbie-ish to both sports as I'm not fully comfortable heading out on my own and I underestimate my ability. Overall I'm pretty fit so it's not so much my physical ability as it is my mental ability to overcome steep downhills and all (both mountain/road). As a result I don't think I've ever had a fall yet... but I really want to step up my game! lol

Hey all, I'm Matthew and I'm a first year HAFA student living in South. I've been riding a bike forever but I didn't really put effort into it until this past spring. I've got a fixie (which I used as bike messenger in downtown Toronto this summer) and a 'cross bike that currently has some slicks on it but is all the way at home in Toronto! I'm trying to decide if I should find a way to cram it into my room or use the bike storage room in south. Until then, I'll be riding around on campus (yellow with baby blue bar tape) and maybe doing some training/fun rides.

Hi, Im mark
I race road, MTB XC and trying out cross this season. I commute through the winter. I sometimes ride a red fixie. I work at Speed River Bicycle...i work Fridays and Saturdays so swing by and say hi.
On a un-bike related note: I try to rock climb and trail run (up to 5km). I used to be a violinist...but I burnt out my interest and now i find myself on a 2 year sabbatical.
ps...is the Sam that is a new poster the sam I met in front of the library with matt and chris?

I guess I should also introduce myself to all the new members: My name is Christy and I've been racing mountain bikes since I was 15... that being said, I have hardly been on my bike this summer (don't hate me guys) and now I could really use some rides to get back into shape. I am slowly converting to a roadie, but I still love the trails as well. I'm a Ph.D. student in Biomedical Science and I've been a GMBC-er for 6 years now! (Yikes I'm old!) I also love to bake tasty treats... which you will quickly find out if you attend any of the GMBC social events. (I specialize in pies ) 2007 Wine and Cheese End-of-Season Bash

Hey everyone!
I'm Jack, I'm from Toronto and I mountain bike, so I'm infinitely familiar with the Don trail system and the people who ride it. I'm primarily a mountain biker and I race downhill on occasion but trail riding is definitely where it's at ;D I also did a 2 week bike tour of Iceland at the beginning of the summer, so I know my way around a road bike too. I don't have my big bike up here right now, but that will come soon.
I ride a Santa Cruz Nomad (hence the name) and a Commencal Absolut (might have seen me around campus) and I'm building up an old BMX race bike in the bike centre.

Hellooooo,
My name is Krisztina (pronounced Kristina, the sz is a letter in the Hungarian alphabet that sounds just like our 's'). I used to mountain bike with my Dad way-back-when then took a couple years off and now i'm back into it! This is my first year as a GMBC member and I've only raced once in my life and it was this summer at Boler in London where I'm from (Boler is pretty much in my backyard). I lived in Pickering for the summer so I rode the trails in the Rouge a few times. Got a new bike this summer too: Kona "Four Lisa", sucks that it's pink, but it's my baby all the same. I love animals and running too...dum dum dum. Can't wait to meet all of you!
edit: pronounced "X-tina" -friendly neighbourhood spider-man

Hi everyone,
I'm caitlin and I only started seriously mtn biking this summer, but I absolutely love it! Have yet to race but definitely want to do some Ucups this fall.
Currently I only have a mtn bike but I'm thinking the fall bike show might be a fantastic opportunity to get a road bike ( funds permitting.....)
Anyway, I look fwd to meeting everyone as the semester goes on!

Hello,
My name's Carolyn and I'm from Stratford, ON. I haven't done a lot of MTB recently but am wanting to get back into it. My cousin introduced me to the sport a few years back up at Buckwallow but from not being a local I didn't get to go as much as I wanted.

Hi. I`m Michelle, and I also love Christy's pies! I have yet to introduce myself on the forum, so here goes in a nutshell - i`ve been biking for a long time and I developed some good skillz. Primarily I bike for fun and do the occasional race, you will see me at all the U-Cups this year. I am in my final semester, I did coop so it set me off pace a bit and this is it! I`m estatic there are all these new girls popping up this year, it is great for the sport.
Lets do a girls mtb ride!!!! sounds like no day will be perfect but see the post under MTB rides and let us know when you can ride.
Also see MTB rides for Tour de Guelph Take 2, tomorrow!... it was a bummer it was rainy then cold yesterday.
P.S. I teach spinning classes at the AC, if you want more info on becoming an instructor let me know.
